TYVA LITHIUM offers customized battery packs by combining the energy density of a Li-SOCl2 (3.6 V) or Li-SO2Cl2 (3.9 V) cell and the power of an electrical double-layer capacitor (EDLC).



The high energy density of the Li-SOCl2 or Li-SO2Cl2 cell recharges the supercapacitor, which enables the whole pack to respond to high current pulses (1~3 A) with a moderate voltage drop only.






Key features:
For applications using a GPS or Wi-Fi transmission protocol, during communication, data exchanges occur with current pulses (1 to 3 A) lasting for a few ms to 1 s.


A Li-SOCl2 battery + supercapacitor (EDLC) pack delivers the following benefits:

  • Higher security.
  • Low self-discharge rate.
  • Increased life-span.
  • Extended operating temperature.


The ideal configuration is determined based on the desired life-span and operating voltage.

The supercapacitor (EDLC) is selected depending on the pulse profile, duration, cycles and disconnection voltage.
