PDU: electronical protection system

The PDU (Power Distribution Unit), also known as switch box, is a protection circuit for lithium batteries. As an essential component of the battery, it communicates directly with the BMS which sends its instructions to apply in order to bring safety for the whole system.

In order to secure the battery, the PDU ensures the power tracks’ opening and shutdown during every operating stages. It forms a genuine electrical protection system against risks related to short circuits, overvoltage, undervoltage, overload, etc.

Represented as a compact and light electronic card, the PDU can easily fit into new or existing systems notably by being compatible with TYVA Energie’s BMS PRO through the BMS link connector. It possesses an output port which is mutual for charge and discharge.

TYVA Energie designs and develops its own PDU. Thus, our range is made of 2 types of PDU which can be differentiated by their technical specifications and designs as well as their voltage and current capacities.

Many possibilities of the PDU range

Static PDU

The static switch box can be distinguished by its compact design, its integrated shunt type current sensor of ± 220 amps as well as its additional electrical specificities.

It is the PDU card to prioritize for voltages lower than 60 volts and currents lower than 130 amps.

Dimensions: 90 x 62 x 18 mm
Continuous nominal current: 90 A
Operating and supply voltage: 9 to 63 V

Dynamic PDU

The dynamic switch box can be distinguished by its power, its isolated current sensor of 400 amps as well as its additional electrical specificities.

It is the PDU card to prioritize for voltages higher than 60 volts and currents up to 400 amps.

Dimensions: 210 x 182 x 65 mm
Continuous nominal current: 250 A
Supply voltage: 9 to 64 V
Operating voltage: 9 to 800 V
